The Book Review

The last command of our Lord Jesus Christ that is undoubtedly should be the major task of any Christian is that we should take the gospel to the end of the earth. Many strategies have been adopted to accomplish this task including the use of communication channels like the radio, television and even oral communication with various levels of success. However, the emergence of the Internet has more than ever before, provided better opportunities for spreading the gospel with the advantage of the combination of all the qualities of the print and electronic broadcasting.
While the Internet has been efficiently used for secular communication, the Christian community especially in Nigeria and other parts of the continent is still grappling with understanding how the technology that has revolutionalised communication and turned the world into a global village can be utilized to minister to millions who are yet to hear about the gospel or those who need to be encouraged to remain steadfast in their faith. Ministering through the Internet: An Essential Guide by Pastor Bayo Afolaranmi is an excellent guide for not only those who are not Internet literate but those who need to be more efficient in using the Internet for day-to-day ministry activities.
Part A of the book, titled "The Internet and the Christian Ministries," explicitly outlines the need for Internet ministry and the challenges of using Internet for gospel and Christian ministries while Part B highlighted online opportunities in Christian ministries.
With the benefit of his experience as an Internet minister, Pastor Afolaranmi provides not only the theoretical bases and guides for Internet ministry but ample practical experiences that will challenge any Christian to take advantage of ministering through the Internet.
The depth of research reflected in the book stands it out as a must read for any minister who desires to reach the world for Christ in the present age when technology has made it possible to penetrate circumvent every hindrance to sharing the gospel.
